Everything you might want to know before moving your WordPress site to headless, what changes for your editors, your SEO, your plugins, and your visitors.
WordPress keeps handling your content exactly as it does today, writing, editing, publishing. "Headless" just means the part that turns that content into the page a visitor sees is rebuilt separately, so it can be pre-built and served instantly instead of assembled live on every visit.
No. Your editors keep using WordPress exactly as they do today, same login, same publishing workflow, nothing to relearn.
Nothing is thrown away. Your content and structure carry over, only how the site is delivered to visitors changes. We typically keep the current site live until the new one is fully tested, so there's no gap in between.
It helps most when a site already has real traffic and speed is costing you visitors or conversions, that's genuinely worth the investment. If your site is low-traffic or mostly a simple brochure page, a well-optimized traditional WordPress site may serve you just as well for less. We'd rather tell you that upfront than sell you something you don't need.
Caching plugins genuinely help, and if that's enough for your situation, we'll say so. But they optimize around the same architecture, the server still assembles the full page on a cache miss, and Core Web Vitals scores on traditional WordPress still average below Google's benchmark even with caching in place. Headless changes the architecture itself rather than working around it.
If anything, it tends to help. Page speed and Core Web Vitals are a confirmed Google ranking factor, so the speed gains from going headless work in your favor. The SEO setup itself (meta tags, structured data, redirects) just moves from an automatic plugin to something we configure directly, it's a normal part of the migration, and we test it thoroughly before launch so nothing gets lost in the switch.
Plugins that manage content and admin functions (custom fields, security, backups) keep working normally. Plugins that rely on rendering the live theme (some SEO auto-tagging, certain page builders, some WooCommerce frontend widgets) need their functionality rebuilt into the new frontend, we scope this per plugin during discovery, not after.
Every project is scoped individually based on complexity, but as a reference point, our web projects generally range from roughly RM6,000 to RM48,000+ depending on scope. Let's talk about where yours would land.
Yes. We offer ongoing maintenance plans and ad-hoc fixes, plus a free 1-hour trial so you can see how we work before committing to anything.
We can set up and recommend hosting as part of the build, or work with a host you already have, happy to advise either way once we understand your setup.
We keep your current site live and untouched until the new one is fully tested and approved, so there's always a fallback. This isn't a one-way door, you're not committing to flip a switch before you're confident it's ready.
Going headless and redesigning your site are two separate decisions. Your existing brand and design can carry over as-is, headless changes how the site is delivered, not how it looks, unless you specifically want a redesign alongside it.
